Introducing Dr Eden Lurie

Dear Patients

I would firstly like to acknowledge how privileged I am to be taking over Dr Green’s practice, and thank her and all of you for giving me the opportunity and trust to take over your care going forward from the 1st of September 2023. Some of you may already know me as I worked as a locum for Dr Green in February and April this year, so to those who already have met me and those who are yet to - I look forward to getting to know you all.

I would like to introduce myself and give some background on my history with medicine thus far. I am a local Cape Townian who studied medicine at UCT, graduating in 2019 with first-class honours. Before going into medicine, however, I completed a bachelor of science degree in Genetics and Human Physiology at UCT, graduating in 2013. After graduating in 2019, I went on to complete the mandatory 3-year public service program for all doctors in SA, consisting of a 2-year internship (2020-2021) at Ngwelezana Hospital in Kwa-Zulu Natal and 1 year of community service (Jan - December 2022) at a busy district hospital in the Eastern Cape, namely Humansdorp Hospital. Working in rural settings for the past 3 years has afforded me the opportunity to develop a strong ability to work independently and manage a wide variety of patients from paediatrics, general and chronic medical issues, woman’s health, infectious diseases, obstetrics, surgical, dermatological issues and more. This year, I have had the opportunity of doing locum work for a few different general practitioners around Cape Town, as well as work in private emergency units (Constantiaberg, Life Kingsbury hospital, Vincent Palloti) and thus have become well acquainted with private medicine.

My approach to medicine is holistic, taking into account a person's lifestyle, diet, physical and mental health therefore treating an illness or disease in the most comprehensive way possible. I will also be introducing some aesthetic medicine procedures into the practice, such as anti-wrinkle injections (botox, dysport), dermal fillers and in time, specialist laser therapies for specific skin issue such as acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, melasma etc. for those who are interested.

On a more personal note, I am a very down-to-earth person and try to lead an active lifestyle, partaking in running, hiking, yoga, surfing, rock climbing as well as painting, sculpting and cooking for friends and family. I am an advocate for living sustainably and ethically, and am on the executive board for the South African Lifestyle Medicine Association, an organization that does research and training for doctors on how to use diet and lifestyle to implement changes and treat chronic disease of lifestyle (diabetes, hypertension, obesity, sleep issues).

I hope that you will entrust me with taking over your care and management going forward and forming a new relationship.

Please feel free to view my LinkedIn profile below if you are interested. I will soon have a website up and running that will have appointment booking features and more information on services offered.
